eTech Ohio American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Title II-D Competitive Grant

Guidelines

A 21st century technology-rich classroom will yield significant academic gains that will be sustained beyond the end of the economic recovery package. Evidence clearly shows that states and districts that have implemented comprehensive, technology-rich educational programs utilizing intensive, on-going professional development, job-embedded training provided by coaches, administrative support and leadership have made significant progress in teaching and learning. The 21st Century Team consisting of four teachers who form some academic functional unit, the technology integration coach and the building administrator, are expected to:

  • meet the requirements as outlined in the RFP, and
  • be enthusiastic participants who are committed to the goals of the grant and the success of the program.

The district superintendent, building principal, curriculum director/coordinator and the technology director/coordinator must:

  • provide leadership
  • supply access to the Internet for the teachers and students in the grant,
  • address issues regarding filtering and policies around technology use, if necessary, and
  • collaborate with the ODE and eTech Ohio in research and evaluation.

Timeline

The grant award program period will be from the date the grant is issued September, 2009 to September 2011 when the FER is due. Review the grant's RFP (revised 05.04.09) in its entirety for specific details.
