BETA08-09 is a collection of two surveys that measure technology deployment and use in Ohio's public schools.
Teacher Survey (48 questions total)
The BETA Teacher survey is an anonymous set of questions that explores the following areas:
- Student and teacher use of technology in the classroom (21 multiple choice items and 3 open ended questions)
- Teacher comfort with technology (11 multiple choice items and one open ended question)
- Teacher professional development needs (11 multiple choice items and one open ended question)
- Technology climate in the school (7 multiple choice questions)
- Technology support methods and effectiveness (2 multiple choice questions
- Background Information (5 multiple choice and 1 open ended)
Building Survey (15 questions; 2 sections)
- Building Technology (10 multiple choice)
- Equipment inventory (5 open ended questions)
How is BETA designed and administered?
The surveys are administered every other year. In the early years, the surveys were substantially rewritten each year. More recently, the survey redesign process has been structured to maintain historic comparability while keeping up with emerging issues. The surveys are administered to the entire universe of public K-12 education in Ohio.
