Videoconference Session

Videoconference Session

What are they?

A videoconference session is a 45-minute, live, point-to-point or multipoint interactive videoconference. The sessions highlight the deployment of videoconferencing technology and infrastructure, direct classroom instruction, teacher/staff professional development or any other learning opportunities specific to a P-20 participant or educational environment. These sessions are delivered/received via two-way, interactive videoconference or through an online portal or virtual learning environment.

While it is important to share experiences with new technologies, these sessions are not intended to promote products and should instead focus on lessons learned with emerging technologies. Presenters are encouraged to keep sessions as vendor neutral as possible.

When is the deadline to submit?

The deadline to submit a proposal is Wednesday, October 8, 2008, and applicants who have submitted proposals marked "complete" will be reviewed and scored during the month of October. Applicants will be notified of successful or rejected proposals by late November 2008.

What are the benefits?

In exchange for presenting a videoconference session, the presenter will receive complimentary full-Conference registration with meal tickets for all three (3) days of the Conference. Presenters are welcome to have a co-presenter to assist with a presentation; however co-presenters DO NOT receive complimentary registration. Co-presenters must register as an attendee at regular Conference rates.

What kind of meeting space is provided?

Each videoconference session room will be set up "classroom style" for approximately 75 people. The space comes equipped with a head presenter table, a LCD projector, screen, sound system with audio mixer, one (1) wired lavaliere microphone and two handheld microphones, Internet connection for one (1) device, one (1) overhead document camera and a videoconference system with connection to the video network. eTech Ohio will schedule all calls using the eTech Ohio video bridges. The presenter is responsible for providing a presentation computer and any additional software or equipment needed for the session.
