Increasing Student Application in the Area of Social Studies through Technology
Abstract
Abstract: This project focused on high school student's perspective on the importance of studying history for future benefits. The questions were: How could I help my students apply the historical lessons discovered in class to their individual daily lives? How can technology help make this process possible? Students completed a World War II WebQuest activity that required students to research and create a scrapbook. Multiple sources of data were used such as a Plus/Delta Chart to survey students, research journal while observing group work, student-created projects and consulting with colleagues. Students performed and produced higher quality work if they could make a connection to their personal life. The researcher will continue using WebQuest activities to help promote these personal connections.
