Asking the Right Questions with Edie Holcomb
Edie Holcomb is well known in the area of school leadership, improvement and reform. She holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Minnesota. Her background includes teaching experience at all grade levels and administrative experience at the building and district level in several states. She has provided technical assistance for implementation of school improvement efforts throughout the United States and in Canada, Guam, St. Lucia and Hong Kong. Currently, she is the Executive Director of Instructional Services in the Kenosha, Wisconsin schools.

In her work with school improvement and change, Dr. Holcomb provides a common language and tools to facilitate collaboration and understanding among stakeholders across schools, districts and state agencies. She has also written several books to assist schools in the change process including Asking the Right Questions: Techniques for Collaboration and Getting Excited about Data.

To encourage and enable collaboration surrounding technology planning, eTech Ohio has adopted Dr. Holcomb's five guiding questions for use in the TPT 3.0. The questions are simple and straightforward:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to go?
  • How do we plan to get there?
  • How will we know we're getting there?
  • How will we sustain focus and momentum?

We have invited Dr. Holcomb to participate in an online interview to provide additional information around these questions as they pertain to technology planning.

These audio clips are MP3 files that can be played using any of the following free downloadable programs: QuickTime, Real Player or Microsoft Media Player.

Within the interview, references are made to the book, Asking the Right Questions. Public school district personnel received the book at the August TPT sessions. Public school districts not represented at the sessions may receive copies when they meet with their eTech Ohio field representative or the book may be purchased through Corwin Press.
