1. What is the purpose of the Ohio PK-16 Teacher Technology Framework?     Top
The purpose of the framework is to incorporate Ohio academic content standards and ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers into both in-service of practicing teachers and pre-service professional learning in Ohio colleges and universities with education programs.
2. What is the Ohio PK-16 Teacher Technology Framework?     Top
The framework will feature technology skills and integration modules. The skill modules will provide introductions to and extended hands-on experiences with current and emerging technologies. The integration modules will focus on the integration of academic content and technology to improve teaching and learning while the scholar will focus on research, best practices and mentoring.
3. What is ISTE?     Top
ISTE is an abbreviation for the International Society for Technology in Education [http://www.iste.org]. It is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to promoting appropriate uses of information technology to support and improve learning, teaching and administration in PK-12 education and teacher education.
4. Why choose ISTE standards?     Top
ISTE is a highly respected professional organization that has developed technology standards for students, teachers and administrators. Since there are no national standards from the U.S. Department of Education, the ISTE standards have served as the defacto standards for many entities.
5. What is a skill module?     Top
A skill module provides instruction that will assist the participant to learn a particular technology skill such as databases, video editing, PDAs or using the Internet in the classroom. Skill modules are aligned to relevant ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers and provide extensions to assist teachers in utilizing the newly acquired skill within the K-12 classroom.
6. What are the prerequisites for taking a skill module?     Top
Prerequisites will vary dependent upon the level of difficulty of the skill module. Therefore, it may be necessary for participants to possess certain beginning or intermediate skills before taking an advanced module.
7. What are integration modules?     Top
Integration modules provide professional learning about how to integrate technology into the curriculum. In the new framework, there will be a variety of integration modules available and others can be created. Some integration modules will focus on specific academic content.
8. Will there be certificates provided for completion of modules?     Top
You should look to districts, trainers or others who conduct module sessions or offer professional development utilizing the modules to provide any documentation or certificates that participants may need for their LPDC.
9. Who has been involved in the planning and development of Ohio?s K-16 Teacher Technology Framework?     Top
The Ohio PK-16 Teacher Technology Framework has been created by representatives from state, regional and district agencies including the Ohio SchoolNet Commission, the Ohio Board of Regents, the Ohio Department of Education, state and private colleges, Ohio school districts, the Ed Tech Agencies, Ohio's Educational Service Centers and ORCLISH.
