The eTech Ohio Commission was created in July 2005 to consolidate the state's investment in the telecommunication networks used by Ohio's public broadcasters and the K-12 community. Charged with advancing learning through technology, eTech Ohio:
- Supports a statewide telecommunications infrastructure that links classrooms and public broadcasting affiliates to each other and the internet.
- Provides funding and technical and telecommunications services to public broadcasters and the K-12 community.
eTech Ohio has forged strong partnerships with Ohio's broadcast affiliates, education technology entities, higher education and others to eliminate duplicative efforts and to leverage existing programs and resources to better serve Ohio learners. By directly linking Ohio classrooms to the educational resources of public broadcasters, higher education institutions and other educational content providers, eTech Ohio is working to expand the educational resources and options that are available to Ohioans.
As an innovative resource, eTech Ohio can rapidly react to implement initiatives and technical solutions to support learning. Whether we are working to expand the capacity of educators to use online learning options, or providing on-demand resources to support the effective use of educational technologies, eTech Ohio was created to be a flexible and agile entity.
