Program Overview
My Tech Plans
All Ohio public K-12 Local Education Agency's (LEA) educational technology plans must be submitted for certification of approval through the online Technology Planning Tool (TPT). eTech Ohio serves as the state's certifying entity for Ohio K-12 LEAs district technology plans. Certified Technology Plans are required for public educational organization participation in most eTech Ohio state-wide technology grant and funding programs and for the federal E-Rate discount Program. The online TPT was created to assist K-12 LEAs with the development of a district-wide educational technology plan that meets state and federal requirements. eTech Ohio only provides review and certification of approval for K-12 public LEAs. Non-public organizations must have their plan approved by an USAC approved reviewer.
The TPT provides an educational technology plan "template" that is divided into an orientation phase and four planning phases. The TPT includes resources to assist the LEA planning committee in successfully completing an educational technology plan that articulates the district's plan to integrate technology to enhance student learning while supporting and maintaining technology within the district. Technology Plans are approved for three school years with the consolidated initiation date of July 1 and an ending date of June 30, corresponding to the federal E-Rate program funding year cycles. Once completed, a Technology Planning Tool (TPT) educational technology plan will meet the following goals:
- Communicate how your organization is using, or plans to use, technology to enhance student learning.
- Establish a timeline for curriculum alignment to technology academic content standards.
- Assess and plan for technology integration into the instructional practices supporting the Ohio academic content standards.
- Establish buy-in for the value that technology brings to local education.
- Cross the chasm of technology and education.
- Align with the district's other planning efforts such as the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP).
- Guide the district from convening their technology planning team to full implementation.
- Encourage the district to maintain a current and working technology plan.
